Diver on filming uncommon footage of Nice White shark within the Mediterranean

A diver who filmed an extremely uncommon encounter with a Nice White shark within the Mediterranean Sea in Might has described the second as “fairly particular”.

“The shark was fairly near us […] And actually my fingers had been trembling once I was making an attempt to get the digicam working,” volunteer diver Derk Remmers advised the BBC.

It’s thought overfishing has contributed to driving the species to close extinction within the Mediterranean.

Scientists say folks shouldn’t be involved because the shark, believed to be an grownup male, was noticed many miles offshore between Tunisia and Sicily.

Conservationists stated they hoped the sighting might encourage governments to create marine protected areas in Mediterranean waters.

Divers working for the NGO Wholesome Seas captured the footage while diving to spotlight the issue of so-called “ghost fishing nets”.
