0

NEW YORK (WABC) — New York Metropolis is ready to honor a trailblazing Congresswoman from Brooklyn on what would’ve been her a hundredth birthday.

Final week, the New York Metropolis council voted to declare November 30 as ‘Shirley Chisholm Day.’

Her life and legacy will probably be celebrated at a brand new exhibition on the Museum of the Metropolis of New York.

Chisholm was the primary Black girl elected to Congress in 1968 and the primary girl to hunt the Democratic presidential nomination.

She retired from Congress in 1983 and went on to show at Mount Holyoke Faculty, the place she co-founded the Nationwide Political Congress of Black Girls.
