US seizes Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s airplane
The US has seized a airplane belonging to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro – claiming it was purchased illegally for $13m (£9.8m) and smuggled overseas.
In line with the US justice division, the Falcon 900EX plane was seized within the Dominican Republic and transferred to the US state of Florida.
It’s unclear how and when the airplane ended up within the Dominican Republic. Monitoring knowledge confirmed it leaving La Isabela airport close to the capital Santo Domingo on Monday, arriving at Fort Lauderdale airport in Florida quickly after.
There was no remark so removed from Mr Maduro or the Venezuelan authorities over the matter.
