NYC Mayor Adams corruption case: Erden Arkan pleads responsible to creating straw donations to 2021 mayoral marketing campaign
NEW YORK CITY (WABC) — A Turkish-born building government named within the indictment towards New York Metropolis Mayor Eric Adams pled responsible to federal prices on Friday.
Erden Arkan, aka “Businessman-5,” pled responsible to creating 10 straw donations to the Eric Adams 2021 mayoral marketing campaign.
Arkan wrote checks to 10 staff, every of them for $1,250, who then donated to the Adams marketing campaign.
He “did so on the route and steerage of a Turkish authorities official within the consulate.”
A well known member of New York’s Turkish group, Arkan is a co-owner of KSK, a Brooklyn-based building agency specializing in luxurious condominiums. His agency’s ties to Adams emerged in November 2023, as investigators searched his residence, together with the house of Adams’ chief fundraiser and his liaison to the Turkish group.
Arkan was one in every of a number of people implicated within the sprawling corruption indictment introduced towards Adams in October. He’s the primary to plead responsible in a public continuing.
The naturalized United States citizen faces a possible sentencing from zero to 6 months in jail, and as much as $9,000 in fines.
