Newark Airport: A number of floor stops issued, over 100 flights cancelled amid staffing shortages, authorities shutdown
NEWARK, New Jersey (WABC) — Newark Liberty Worldwide Airport was hit with a number of floor stops on Sunday amid staffing shortages within the management tower.
Arriving flights had been grounded for 45 minutes till 10:45 p.m.
An analogous floor stopped occurred on Sunday morning, when arrivals into the airport had been being restricted to as few as 20 planes per hour via the afternoon, NYC Emergency Administration stated.
Officers say the typical delay at Newark Airport was about two hours, with some flights being greater than three hours late.
Total, the airport noticed over 120 flights cancelled on Sunday, with some delays spilling over into JFK Worldwide Airport and LaGuardia Airport.
Officers advocate vacationers verify their flight standing earlier than heading to the airport, and to even be ready for longer waits, schedule adjustments, gate holds or missed connections.
