FAA to take care of elevated in-person oversight of Boeing for ‘foreseeable future’ By Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The pinnacle of the Federal Aviation Administration will inform the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee on Thursday that the company will keep its elevated on-site presence at Boeing (NYSE:) and its provider Spirit AeroSystems (NYSE:) “for the foreseeable future.”

FAA Administrator Mike Whitaker will inform senators the company’s choice to spice up inspections after the Jan. 5 Alaska Airways Boeing 737 MAX 9 in-flight emergency is now everlasting, in accordance with a replica of his written testimony seen by Reuters. Whitaker will say the FAA has added “further inspections at essential factors of the manufacturing course of.”

Whitaker may even say that, following classes from the Jan. 5 incident, “the FAA modified its oversight method and people adjustments are everlasting. We’ve now supplemented our audits with extra energetic, in-person oversight — the ‘audit plus inspection’ method.”
