Chita Rivera Awards: Late Broadway legend honored with heartfelt tribute throughout first ceremony since her dying
GREENWHICH VILLAGE, Manhattan (WABC) — The Chita Rivera Awards paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Broadway legend they’re named for Monday in the course of the first ceremony since her dying.
The awards present evening was rebranded because the Chita Rivera Awards in 2016 and she or he participated in it till she died.
The awards honor the very best of dance and choreography on Broadway, off-Broadway, and movie and the occasion is a fundraiser for dance scholarships.
“It continues her legacy and her love of dance, of choreography,” Rivera’s Daughter, Lisa Mordente, mentioned.
The present, held at NYU’s Skirball Middle for the Performing Arts, included tribute performances to Rivera from “Chicago”, “Kiss of the Spider Lady” and “West Aspect Story,” all exhibits she carried out in.
The legendary singer, dancer and actress died in January in New York Metropolis on the age of 91.
She was a ten-time Tony Award nominee, successful twice, and an icon within the Hispanic neighborhood.
