Brooklyn lethal theft: Drivers to rally after passenger robbed and overwhelmed in for-hire automobile in Coney Island

CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn (WABC) — For-hire drivers are demanding pressing motion to revise what they name a harmful and outdated coverage after a brutal assault on a passenger.

Police launched surveillance video of the suspects wished in reference to the demise of 53-year-old Michael Shelonchik.

The passenger within the again seat of a livery cab died after being robbed.

Police say it occurred on Tuesday night time, when the livery cab Shelonchik was driving in was stopped at an intersection in Coney Island.

Two suspects opened the backseat doorways and began beating the passenger and robbed him. They took the gold chain off his neck.

The driving force tried to drive off however seen the sufferer was unconscious within the again seat.

Police say Shelonchik had a medical situation after the theft and was pronounced useless at Maimonides Medical Middle.

A rally being held within the Bronx by for-hire drivers desires to alter the legislation to permit cab drivers to lock their backseat doorways.

Present legislation prevents them from robotically locking the rear doorways of their automobiles.
