A Maltese businessman has gone on trial on the island over the 2017 automobile bomb assassination of outstanding investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, whose demise shocked the nation.

Yorgen Fenech, 44, is accused of complicity in her homicide. He has denied all the costs.

In 2022, brothers George and Alfred Degiorgio had been jailed for 40 years for the killing of Caruana Galizia, a harsh critic of the federal government who had uncovered networks of corruption in Malta and overseas.

Two different males – Robert Agius and Jamie Vella – had been jailed for all times in 2025 for supplying the bomb, whereas their convicted good friend, Vincent Muscat, secured a pardon in alternate for testimony.
